Special Services

If you have any of the following conditions, Dr. Jones offers services specially tailored for you.

Facial joint pain

Dr. Jones has a great deal of experience working with facial joint pain (he has taught on the subject for 17 years!). Because of his expertise, other dentists often send patients to him who need diagnosis and treatment for facial pain.

If you have facial pain, Dr. Jones will diagnose the problem. He will then make sure you get the proper treatment, whether he performs the procedure or sends you to the appropriate medical specialist.

One common cause of facial joint pain is "TMJ", an inflammation of the jaw joints. Dr. Jones refers patients with TMJ to a physical therapist who specializes in treating maladies of the facial joints.

A deep fear of dental treatment

Most of us dislike undergoing dental procedures. Some of us have a significant fear of it. Dr. Jones offers three levels of anasthesia that correspond to different levels of fear of dental work.

  1. Nitris oxide. A gas that lightens your mood and takes the edge off.
  2. Mild sedatives. A pill that you can take prior to your procedure that will deliver short-term sedation.
  3. "Twilight sleep". A gas administered by a licensed anasthesiologist that leaves you with only the dimmest. awareness of the procedure you underwent. Twilight sleep has been a very successful option for many patients who have the deepest fears of dental treatment.

If you are considering the twilight sleep option, make sure you consult your insurance provider. It is covered in some plans.

Medical conditions that preclude the use of local anasthesia

Some patients cannot safely receive local anasthesia and must have their hearts monitored throughout a medical procedure. Dr. Jones treats such patients using "twilight sleep". It is described in the paragraph above.
