Allan Jones is a South Bay native who grew up in San Pedro and Torrance and graduated from South High School. He began his South Bay practice in 1979 and has served the community with traditional dental services for more than three decades.
In addition to leading his practice, Dr. Jones has been teaching for more than 30 years. For 24 years (1984–2008), he was a clinical instructor at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Dentistry, where he taught courses on bite-related issues, facial pain and restorative dentistry. He is currently on the faculty of the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute, teaching posture, ergonomics and exercise for dentists. An expert in microscope-enhanced dentistry, researcher and recognized authority on dental issues, Dr. Jones brings a wide range of sophisticated expertise to his practice. He also oversees a laboratory that he established in 2010 to produce high-quality dental restorations for his patients. Dr. Jones is the author of several published articles and papers, most recently on osteoporosis drugs (bisphosphonates). He served as contributing editor for two issues of the California Dental Association (CDA) Journal, including the award-winning dental ergonomics issue. His interest in that area led him to become a National Strength and Conditioning Association-Certified Personal Trainer.® Dr. Jones received his DDS degree from the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in 1979. He later earned a master’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences from USC, completing his studies in 2011. He holds two bachelor’s degrees from the University of California Irvine –– the first in biological sciences (1975) and the second in chemistry (1976). For his master’s thesis at USC, Dr. Jones created a mathematical method for predicting susceptibility to bisphosphonate-related osteonecrosis of the jaws. He has since become an expert on bisphosphonates, which include drugs commonly prescribed to treat osteoporosis and cancers that affect bone. Dr. Jones is committed to promoting excellence in dentistry and to supporting the local South Bay community through organizations such as The Jester & Pharley Phund and El Nido. |
Parish Sedghizadeh –– or “Dr. Parish,” as he is known by our patients and staff –– supports our office with leading-edge expertise in oral cancer and osteonecrotic jaw disease. Dr. Parish is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, who regularly conducts research, publishes, teaches and consults in that area. He brings extensive knowledge of complex conditions of the jaws and face to our practice and plays a key role in their diagnosis and treatment.
A tenure-track assistant professor at the University of Southern California (USC), Dr. Parish also serves as director of the University of Southern California Center for Biofilms. His research laboratory, clinical practice and research projects at USC focus on head and neck pathology. Dr. Parish earned his DDS degree at USC after receiving a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of California Los Angeles. After his doctorate, he pursued specialty training in oral and maxillofacial pathology at Ohio State University. There, he earned a master’s degree in oral biology and fellowship status in the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. Dr. Parish was awarded an American Cancer Society fellowship for his research at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, investigating early molecular events involved in the progression of head and neck cancer. |
Dr. Janice Chou has been practicing dentistry in Orange County since 1997. She obtained her B.S. degree from University of California, Los Angeles, then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from New York University School of Dentistry in 1997. After practicing as a general dentist for a few years, she attended University of Southern California for Advanced Endodontic specialty program. Today, she maintains a practice limited to Endodontics in Newport Beach, California.
Among the professional affiliations, Dr. Chou holds fellowships in the American College of Dentists and Pierre Fauchard Academy of Dentistry. She is also a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the California State Association of Endodontists, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, Orange County Dental Society and the Newport Harbor Academy of Dentistry. Dr. Chou has been actively involved with Orange County Dental Society. She is the past president of OCDS and has served as the board of director and delegate to the California Dental Association for the past ten years. She previously taught as a clinical instructor at USC endodontic department. Currently, Dr. Chou is an instructor for the Dental Microscopic course with Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute, an international teaching and research center. Outside of her professional interest, she enjoys music, reading, traveling, and attending cultural events and outdoor activities at Jonathan Club in Los Angeles and Palos Verdes Golf Club. |
