Hard Tissue Imaging ("X-rays") of Teeth and Surrounding BoneDental imaging (Radiography) for early detection of diseases of hard tissues-teeth and surrounding bone is done with traditional single film views and three-dimensional CAT scan techniques.
This allows for detection of small cavities (dental caries) affecting before that can be seen or felt as painful. Imaging of surrounding hard-tissues can reveal tumors, cysts, infections, and inflammation of the jaws and sinuses. Imaging of ectopic calcifications can reveal salivary stones, stones in the tonsils, calcified lymph nodes, and calcified carotid artery blockage. Three-dimensional imaging with Cone-Beam-CAT-Scanning of the teeth and jaws is essential to the safe practice of dental implant placement, root canal therapy, and tumor location. These images are reviewed by our in-house dental radiologist-“Dr. Parish.” |
